🌿 Embracing Your Creative, Intuitive Spirit
A reflection on being an INFP, creativity, and grounding imagination
By Natalie Pray
Lately, I’ve been learning how my INFP mind truly works.
My imagination (Extraverted Intuition, Ne) and my values (Introverted Feeling, Fi) shape almost everything in my life.
This influence ranges from my tattoos and conversations to my blog ideas and healing moments.
Some days I feel like I’m made of stars and stories.
Other days, it feels like chaos and questions.
This reflection is about finding beauty in both—and learning how to let creativity flow without letting it flood.
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by your own ideas, this one’s for you.
Maybe you are unsure how to ground your dreams.
Or you are torn between imagination and meaning.
✨ The INFP Mind: Magic and Madness
If you’re anything like me, you recognize the magic and the madness that comes with being an INFP.
I am a deeply feeling, often dreamy soul. Lately, I’ve been learning more about the inner dance between my core values (Fi) and my wild imagination (Ne).
This post is a reflection of that journey.
🌌 The Spark of Creative Intuition (Ne)
There’s a part of me that’s always scanning the horizon for inspiration.
I find meaning everywhere—
in planning a new tattoo,
in journaling under the stars,
in starting a blog called Natalie in the Wild.
This is the work of Extraverted Intuition (Ne).
It’s the part of my personality that explores ideas, chases symbols, and connects seemingly unrelated things.
It’s why I love symbolism—foxes, blackbirds, cherry blossoms.
It’s also why I can get incredibly excited (and a little scattered) dreaming up endless possibilities.
Ne is curious. Playful. Visionary.
And sometimes… overwhelming.
🌪️ When Imagination Gets Loud
The downside of a strong imagination?
My mind doesn’t always know when to stop.
I’ll plan five tattoo concepts in one sitting.
I’ll imagine multiple life paths after one meeting.
I’ll analyze every detail of a family gathering before it even happens.
I’ve caught myself thinking, “I have so many ideas—I just can’t pick one.”
That’s classic Ne.
A blessing—and a storm.
When unchecked, it can lead to indecision, unfinished plans, and anxiety. Instead of grounding into action, I end up spinning in a mental whirlwind.
🌱 Finding Center in the Chaos (Fi Leads the Way)
Here’s the good news: imagination isn’t the enemy.
Ne is just a wild horse—it needs direction.
And that direction comes from my dominant role: Introverted Feeling (Fi).
Fi knows what truly matters to me:
authenticity, connection, beauty, meaning.
So I’m learning to let Fi lead—and let Ne follow like a loyal (but excitable) pup.
What helps me ground my creativity:
- Writing things down
When my thoughts feel like scattered stars, journaling pulls them into constellations. - Creating rituals
Lighting a candle before prayer. Choosing tattoos that mark healing chapters. Using symbols to anchor my values. - Channeling ideas into containers
My blog, my art, nature walks, even how I decorate my space—these give my creativity a home. - Visualizing safety and connection
Instead of imagining everything that go wrong socially, I picture myself grounded, seen, and safe.
đź’› A Note to Fellow Dreamers
If this resonates, let me say this clearly:
You’re not too much.
Your ideas aren’t a flaw.
Your creativity is not a problem to be fixed.
When imagination is tethered to your values, it becomes a compass.
You’re not lost—you’re designed to explore.
Let your intuition fly, but let your values choose the direction.
Let your story unfold like ink on skin, words on a page, or roots in the ground.
You are allowed to be both wildly imaginative and deeply grounded.
That is the quiet power of the INFP spirit.
With love and curiosity,
Natalie
