✨ I See Myself: Why Halsey’s Music Feels Like Magic

There are artists who write songs.
And then there are artists who open a doorway into your soul.
For me, Halsey is the second kind.
Her work doesn’t feel like entertainment.
It feels like recognition.
Listening to her lyrics is like hearing parts of myself spoken out loud for the first time.
Stepping into the worlds she builds through her visuals feels like entering my own inner landscape.
It feels familiar, raw, and alive.
It’s more than music.
It’s connection.
It’s reflection.
It’s magic.

🌙 A Mirror for Deep Feelers
Halsey doesn’t write like someone chasing perfection.
She writes like someone choosing honesty.
Her lyrics carry a trembling rawness — the kind that only comes from surviving real storms.
When she sings about identity, loneliness, inner chaos, and rebuilding, it echoes parts of me I once kept buried.
Rebuilding.
Survival.
Reinvention.
These are themes I didn’t always have language for. There’s a quiet comfort in realizing:
This artist feels like I feel.
And that realization makes the weight easier to carry.
🌵 Badlands: A World That Feels Like Home
Badlands isn’t just an album.
It’s a cinematic universe.
A desert landscape is shaped by isolation, longing, rebellion, and transformation.
It is a place where you wander, endure, and eventually emerge changed.
Strangely, beautifully, it feels familiar.
Wide empty spaces reflecting emotional distance.
Neon color against darkness, signaling hope where none should exist.
Movement and escape as metaphors for healing.
Halsey’s Badlands mirrors terrain I’ve crossed myself — a place I survived, not untouched, but awakened.
🚘 When the Visuals Mirror the Soul
Watching the anniversary visuals for “Gasoline” and “Drive” hit deeper than I expected.
The pink Mustang on endless desert highways.
Surveillance screens watching every move.
VHS tapes replaying old versions of herself.
It felt like watching the inside of a soul that had been monitored, judged, controlled — and finally chose freedom.
That image stayed with me: movement as liberation.
Running toward truth.
Away from chaos.
Toward intuition again.
It felt like my story.

🔥 Transforming Pain Into Art
Halsey has never hidden her struggles — mental health, addiction, identity, self-worth, rebuilding after collapse.
She tells the messy truth and turns it into poetry.
That’s the work I’ve been doing too.
Turning wounds into wisdom.
Shame into healing.
Survival into strength.
Her art feels like permission to keep going.
It encourages us to trust that pain doesn’t disqualify us from beauty. Instead, pain deepens it.
✨ Why Her Music Feels Like Magic
Maybe that’s why Halsey’s music feels like magic.
It doesn’t just sound good — it sees me.
It reminds me that emotional depth isn’t a flaw.
It’s part of my design.
It’s where creativity lives.
Where empathy grows.
Where healing begins.
In a world that often misunderstands sensitivity, intuition, and depth, her voice feels like a quiet affirmation:
You’re not too much.
You’re just real.
Her art mirrors my journey.
Her visuals show my transformation.
Her lyrics echo my inner world.
And that recognition — that moment of being seen — is something I’ll always be grateful for.
Tyrone Was a Gentleman. Jonah Is a Hurricane.
Two cats. Two completely different personalities. One heart with room for both. Tyrone was a gentleman. He was relaxed, independent, and perfectly content to entertain himself. He was happy simply being near me. Tyrone had little interest in the great outdoors. If I was outside, he might join me for a while. Otherwise, he preferred…
What I Would Tell My Younger Self
If I could sit beside my younger self, I would tell her two things: be less afraid of what people think, and learn to forgive yourself sooner.

What Photography Teaches Us About Life Beyond the Frame There is something fascinating about the space surrounding the subject of a photograph. What I love most about photography is capturing moments, expressions, and collecting memories. A smile, a glance, or an expression that lasts only a second can become something we treasure for years. I…
